Elsewhere, the area of disturbed weather located between Bermuda and the Bahamas that should move by the southeastern US coast has a 30 percent chance of developing into a tropical storm in the next five days, the hurricane center said.

The storm is moving west at 15 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds near 40 miles per hour.

"An even faster westward motion across the tropical Atlantic is expected through Tuesday". It may strengthen some in the next two days, but some dry air will prevent too much strengthening. Weakening is likely during the middle to latter part of the week. Northern Venezuela is also in the extended cone projection.

During a weather update Sunday morning, the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) described Kirk as well as another weather system called Tropical Depression 11 as being of "immediate concern to the British Virgin Islands". Forecasters expect the storm to dissipate in a few days. We will have a 40 percent chance for some showers and storms throughout the day. For Leslie, 40 mph winds winds extend outward up to 230 miles from the center.

According to the discussion: "Leslie is embedded within very light steering currents, and most likely the cyclone will be meandering today and tomorrow".

Kirk does not pose a threat to the USA over the next eight days. However, there is a possibility that Kirk will not be able to maintain tropical organization before approaching the Islands.

Meanwhile, Tropical Depression 11 was about 688 miles east-southeast of the BVI Sunday morning and had winds of 30 miles per hour.

The DDM, however, noted that these forecasts are subject to change. That disturbance constitutes the remnants of Hurricane Florence, which saturated the Carolinas with rain and wind last week. "Additionally, new areas are flooding with little warning. Due to this, travel isn't recommended south of US 64", it added.
