Labour to challenge May on Brexit deal and will trigger general election if it fails - Corbyn Jeremy Corbyn says the Labour party will call for a national election if any Brexit deal struck by Prime Minister Theresa May with Brussels fails to meet his party's 'six tests'. Senior Conservative Brexiteers lined up yesterday to back an alternative plan based on a Canada-style deal.

It came as a list of 24 technical notices published by the government on Monday showed how everyday life could be disrupted in the event of a "no deal" Brexit.

The two sides are seeking to negotiate the terms of exit as well as an outline agreement on future co-operation, over the next month or so.

'This is about how you can have a fantastic Brexit that sets us up for the next generation and ensures our prosperity, ' he said.

Mr Rees-Mogg, who leads the Tory backbench European Research Group (ERG), said the Plan A-plus report offered a "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Canada" deal which the United Kingdom should seize.

The report, by the Institute of Economic Affairs, a free-market think tank, says that Britain should drop European Union food safety regulations, which it says are not based on science, to prioritise a trade deal with the US.It also calls on the government to cut corporation tax and reduce European Union workers' rights legislation, which it claims discourages companies from hiring.Mrs May told the cabinet that there was no chance of a U-turn, however.

Former foreign secretary Boris Johnson - who did not attend the launch - also endorsed the report as "a very good piece of work".

Dominic Raab's remarks were a direct response to driving European Union federalist Emmanuel Macron, the French President, who said last week that MPs who have been positive about Brexit and have spoken of benefits are "liars" and that other nations who decide to leave will suffer. Davis said the negotiations were stuck in a cul-de-sac, needed resetting and an FTA was the way out.

Raab also said a Canada-style trade deal was now "off the table" because the EU caveat was a backstop on the Irish border, effectively keeping Northern Ireland in the customs union and breaking up the UK. She has defended it as the only viable way to prevent a hard border in Northern Ireland.

What are the Dexeu warnings for a no deal Brexit?

A Downing Street spokesperson said: "It is categorically untrue that Number 10 is planning a snap election".
