That ratings performance is even more impressive when you factor in that that the Tour Championship went up against a full-slate of National Football League action.

The victory capped off a season that started with questions over whether Woods, now 10 years removed from his last major title, would even be able to play a full schedule after undergoing spinal fusion surgery in April 2017.

"It's been tough", Woods said Sunday.

"You know, I didn't have a great year this season, so seeing Woods, who has had so many naysayers and doubters, overcome and win the Tour Championship, it's inspiring on so many different levels".

Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian in history, was also captivated by Woods' final round performance, humbly beginning his message: "From one goat (greatest of all time) to another".

Asked whether it's more pressure trying to win a major or a Ryder Cup - since he's now done both - Molinari said: "You won't believe me, but it's nowhere near".

"If I'm completely honest, I wasn't exactly hoping to be paired with Tiger, not because I don't like to play with him, but because, obviously, the hype and with him being in contention in a major, it's going to be noisy and it's going to be a lot of people", he said.

"I kept saying 'Hey, I could still play this out of bounds.' But once I got the ball on the green I gave [caddie] Joey [LaCava] a high five because I knew it was done".

Team USA captain Jim Furyk and Team Europe captain Thomas Bjorn with the Ryder Cup during a press conference on preview day one of the Ryder Cup at Le Golf National, Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Paris. He's the only golfer that's had the ability to draw a crowd from all walks of life. Woods led through three rounds and fans tuned in for his comeback win. "I remember watching the 2000 U.S. Open with my grandfather when I was 12 years old, and Tiger won that tournament by 15 shots".

Real or not, that's still pretty cool.

"He's played really well all year, I think". Woods has the record at 683.

Still, it's nice to be reminded of this fact every now and again.
