"Borderlands 2 VR" is coming to PlayStation VR in celebration of "Borderlands" 10th anniversary, 2K Games and Gearbox Software announced Tuesday. Gearbox will be bringing its critically acclaimed shooter-looter franchise to PlayStation VR later this year, giving fans of the franchise the opportunity to virtually step into the wild world of Pandora. This ability slows down the game, giving you a chance to make your next move.

Most apparent is the addition of a new bullet time feature, affectionately dubbed "BAMF Time". Something like The Matrix.

Controlling characters in VR games have been tricky but there are a couple of options for this game. The game only supports single-player, so you can't explore Pandora with your buddies, and the two DLC classes - the Mechromancer and the Psycho - are also not included. With the use of the motion controllers and headset, players can interact with the menu systems in a new and intuitive way for the platform, easily navigating through the menus by pointing, clicking, dragging and dropping. The VR release includes a Borderlands-style take on Bullet Time, called either "BAMF Time" or "BadAss Mega Fun Time", depending on where you stand on the whole abbreviation business.

You'll even be driving in first person mode, with your headset allowing you to aim the vehicle's weaponry. Burleson dives a bit deeper into some of the VR-conscious changes the team had to make in the full write-up on the PlayStation Blog.

Gearbox seeks to break into new territory and join Bethesda in the elite few who have brought a fully fledged, and well-beloved title to VR, instead of simply making a spinoff.

What do you think of this? We're not sure how well that's going to work, and you may want to check that your insurance covers breakages via headbutts. Is this a good enough reason to go back to Pandora?
