Embiid joins a stacked Under Armour roster which features Golden State Warriors point guard, Steph Curry, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper. According to Yahoo Sports' Pete Thamel, the endorsement deal is expected to be finalized today.

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has left Adidas and signed a five-year deal with Under Armour, ESPN reported Wednesday.

Embiid's status as a "big man" didn't appear to slow down the sizable offers from several brands that made him this year's most coveted sneaker free agent.

Whilst traditionally big men haven't captured the imagination of the sneaker world, Embiid's transcendant talent and personality gives UA a player that can capture the younger generation's imagination and according to Embiid himself, he's the man to make big men cool.

"A lot of people, you know, always have that notion [that] big men can't sell shoes". When I look at myself ... I can dribble, I can pass the ball, I can shoot.

"Basketball has given me everything, but it has to be bigger than basketball", Embiid added. "So as far as signature shoes, I'm excited to come and break that".

Under Armour is taking a chance on Embiid in the hope that he can turn around the company's recent misfortunes by breaking the mold for big men.
