When asked on Friday if Butler will be with the team on opening night of the regular season, Thibodeau called the situation "fluid," reports Fox Sports' Dave Benz.

Jimmy, you're not kidding around.

"I did expect (Butler) there and some things that have been reported are correct and some are not", Thibodeau said.

The 15-time All-Star also lamented how public the interactions between Butler and his team have been, as reports have detailed a number of interactions within the building since Butler returned to the team this week.

I felt like it was a normal practice, but it was new for guys. Here was Thibodeau's answer to that: "The important thing is, we have to do what we think is best for our team and we always will do that".

This event shows a clear rift between these two teams, with the enormous pressure on the Timberwolves side to get a deal done continuing to cause issues within the organization.

Butler told ESPN's Rachel Nichols on Wednesday evening that the situation is "not fixed", adding, "It could be". And what goes on between two conglomerates as businesses should always stay (private).

The Timberwolves canceled Thursday's practice. "Every team is going to through something at some point of the season". I'm just hoping they can get through this rough patch and everybody can get on the same patch and figure it out.

"Jimmy has a very valid point", George said.

Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns dodged questions from the media on Friday morning when asked about teammate Jimmy Butler, according to Zone Coverage's Dane Moore.

George said he talked to Butler "a little bit" and that Butler's demonstrative behavior is "not coming from a bad place". George told the Indiana Pacers he planned on leaving the team when his free agency rolled around in the summer of 2018, with Los Angeles apparently at the top of his potential destination list.
