The tourists lost three wickets in the morning session and were reeling at 113 for five after lunch, a poor effort on a flawless batting strip and against an opposition rendered one bowler short following Shardul Thakur's injury in the morning.

On the other hand, West Indies, their regular skipper Jason Holder is still not fit and their star bowler Shannon Gabriel is also doubtful for the final encounter.

Holder gloved an Umesh bouncer behind late in the day, leaving Chase and Devendra Bishoo (2no) to steer Windies through to stumps.

West Indies made two changes as they left out Keemo Paul and Sherman Lewis.

The opener stepped out against the off-spinner, who quickly shortened his length and pitched it wide, prompting an uppish drive straight to Ravindra Jadeja at cover.

The visitors are finding it tough to cope up with Kuldeep Yadav, who has been troubling them since the start of the series as he has already taken three wickets conceding 40 runs as the batting side are reeling at 136/5 in the second session of the day.

Chase, who hit a Test-best 137 not out against India in Jamaica in 2016, stopped the rot, firstly with Dowrich and then, when the wicketkeeper-batsman was out lbw on review to Umesh, with Holder. Shardul Thakur became India's 294th Test cricketer this morning but he limped off the field with a groin injury after bowling only 10 deliveries. The 26-year-old has gone for scans with his further participation in the match to be determined.
