Woman snatched by crocodile in Australia while fishing with kids

A woman has been killed by a crocodile while out fishing with her family in Australia's Northern Territory.

Authorities later found the body of the woman and the crocodile, about a half-mile from where she disappeared.

"She was with the group. and the group noticed her missing", he said.

The female park ranger who was declared missing after being taken by a crocodile has been found dead.

Northern Territory WorkSafe said the attack happened near the community of Gan Gan, at least 500km (300 miles) east of Darwin.

The corporation have closed their office since they first reported the attack to NT WorkSafe. News.com.au understands police are enroute via dirt road to the area to conduct a search but were at least a few hours away mid afternoon Friday.

The Indigenous ranger was taken by the crocodile about 206km south west of Yirrkala about 10am on Friday.

A report into the circumstances around the death will be prepared by police for the coroner and NT WorkSafe spokesman is also investigating, a spokesman said.

CareFlight, which is usually tasked to assist with medical situations in remote locations, did not attend the scene.
