Yankees Believe Luis Severino Was Tipping Pitches

A report from Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports states that Severino was tipping his pitches in the game.

According to one Yankees person, Severino was tipping his pitches. And one video shows Boston's Jackie Bradley Jr. mouthing "fastball" to teammate Mookie Betts just before Severino tossed a fastball to Brock Holt.

Yankees people say they heard the "chatter" from Red Sox people about pitch tipping, and they all seem to believe there was something to it. Red Sox hitters, meanwhile, consistently laid off Severino's slider. After four innings of play, the Yankees found themselves down 10-1 - an insurmountable hole the team never really recovered from. The first time resulted in the worst postseason loss in Yankees history and the second resulted in New York's elimination from the postseason.

Games 3 and 4 of the ALDS were particularly rough for Boone as he made the same costly mistake of leaving a starter in too long when better options existed in the bullpen twice. And Yankees manager Aaron Boone has caught heat for allowing Severino to start the fourth inning, in which Boston blew the game wide open by scoring seven runs.
