Former NFL football quarterback Colin Kaepernick applauds while seated on stage during W.E.B. "It's a glaring omission and we're working to get it fixed". "This oversight does not properly reflect the appreciation our ownership and this team have for Colin".

Since Friday's story broke about Kaepernick's exclusion from the gallery, two photos of him (running) were added to the 51-photo post. "Against the Packers, anyone who's a fan of football, particularly 49ers fans, knows he has a great part of history against the Packers".

Kaepernick, 30, made headlines during the 2016 NFL season after he started kneeling during the national anthem before games to protest social and racial injustices.

Ahead of this week's upcoming game against the Packers, the 49ers commemorated several moments, but failed to include Kaepernick's historic performance in the 2012 playoffs, where he rushed for a quarterback-record 181 yards and two touchdowns while throwing for 263 yards and two more scores. He followed that up by passing for 412 yards and three touchdowns in a 2013 season-opening win over Green Bay.

Kaepernick opted out of his contract the following offseason when the 49ers told him they planned to cut him. Du Bois Medal by Harvard University, adding to accolades that also included Amnesty International's most prestigious honour earlier this year.

The team posted dozens of photos on its website Friday of past games against the Packers before the teams meet again Monday night. Kaepernick has been unable to find another team to play for the past two seasons, and remains a free agent. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said last month that the team would not consider re-signing him, as he does not fit "with the style of offense that we wanted to go with".

"I hope not", Rodgers said.
