This mammoth deal, which will span 5 years and 10 fights, is being called "the highest paid guaranteed contract in sports history" by Canelo's promoter Golden Boy Promotions.

Domestically, the previous contract high for an athlete was the 13-year, $325 million dollar pact signed by Giancarlo Stanton with the Miami Marlins.

Mexico's Alvarez, who recently dethroned Gennady Golovkin in Las Vegas, has committed his future to the sports streaming service for the next five years and his next 11 fights.

Canelo's first fight on the new platform will come on December 15, when he takes on Britain's Rocky Fielding at Madison Square Garden.

DAZN is already home to plethora of boxing content, thanks in large part to a deal with Matchroom Boxing, as well as wealth of MMA attractions, such as Bellator, KSW, and Combate Americas.

The deal comes in the wake of the news that USA network HBO, on whose shows Alvarez previously fought, will stop showing boxing at the end of the year. That fight was shown on HBO pay-per-view.

"At the same time, I am humbled to be selected to lead this new vision for the sport of boxing, which will without a doubt be for the benefit of the fans". "The most important thing to me was being able to give the fans the opportunity to see me fight without having to pay the $70 or $80 for my fights on pay-per-view". The December fight with Fielding is a risky fight.
