It wasn't the photo itself that got people riled up.

Some also pointed out that Craig appeared more ready for his next Bond outing than Morgan had suggested.

Fact: there is nothing more "masculine", in the best possible sense of the word, than a father caring for his child.

Always keen to weigh in with his own opinions on Twitter, Chris Evans even zinged Morgan about #papoosegate, writing "You really have to be so uncertain of your own masculinity to concern yourself with how another man carries his child".

Morgan tried to explain in a later tweet that 007 should carry his baby in his arms, not in a wussy "papoose". "Any man who wastes time quantifying masculinity is terrified on the inside".

Morgan could not be reached for comment; neither could Craig, who recently welcomed his daughter with actress Rachel Weisz.

Television presenter Piers Morgan provoked ire online after he mocked Daniel Craig for using a baby harness.

But Morgan was still at it, turning the backlash he had spawned into Good Morning Britain content.

Many outraged Twitter users criticised Piers for bringing "masculinity" into the equation when discussing parenting methods.

We believe this is yours, Captain America...

Naturally, he nominated himself.
