Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook won't be suiting up for tonight's National Basketball Association season-opener at Oracle Arena. He and Thunder superstar Russell Westbrook, in particular, have had their share of hostile, though, harmless, moments on and off the court ever since Durant left Oklahoma City to chase National Basketball Association championships in the Bay Area. Donovan said Westbrook is still taking part in "controlled contact" portions of practice. The Thunder did not issue an update on when he could return to action, but multiple reports indicate that the injury will not require a lengthy recovery process once the season begins. Point guard Dennis Schroder is expected to start in his place after arriving in Oklahoma City in an off-season trade with the Atlanta Hawks.

The Warriors opened as 11.5-point favorites on Sunday with Westbrook listed as questionable, but had moved to -12 by Monday afternoon.

Westbrook, the 2017 NBA MVP, averaged 25.4 points and 10.3 assists in 80 games last season.

Westbrook, 29, is coming off the second straight year in which he averaged a triple double.

After their matchup with the defending champs, the Thunder will head to Los Angeles Friday night to take on the Clippers.
