The successor to Samsung's take on the Windows tablet is here: the Samsung Galaxy Book 2, and it's got a new friend under the hood - a Qualcomm processor.

Responding to questions from MyBroadband, Samsung South Africa confirmed that the Galaxy A9 would be available locally in December 2018 for a recommended retail price of R11,999.

This makes the Galaxy Book 2 one of the first devices to be announced with the Snapdragon 850, Qualcomm's first dedicated processor for Windows.

The Galaxy Book 2 brings a 12-inch FHD+ (2160x1440) sAMOLED display and twin speakers tuned by AKG with Dolby Atmos support. Samsung is promises a up to 20 hours of battery life on a single charge.

As for the tablet's speeds and feeds, you're of course looking at a Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 SoC backed up by 4GB of memory and 128GB of solid-state storage. The kickstand can be adjusted in any angle and Samsung is also including a magnetic keyboard with the box, which is a pretty admirable move considering most other companies require you to pay extra for accessories. The S Pen will also be included with the box. The Galaxy Book 2 packs Qualcomm's Snapdragon 850 chip that's been designed specifically for Windows 10 devices, and features LTE support.

"With the long-lasting battery in the Galaxy Book 2, you can work uninterrupted for up to 20 hour - more than two full work days", Samsung swoons in its announcement. There's a Snapdragon X20 modem for gigabit LTE. The Galaxy Book 2 has been priced at $1000 (approx Rs 73,500) and will be available in stores in the United States later this month.

Again, we'll have to wait for United Kingdom information but in the U.S. you can buy the device online at AT&T, Microsoft and Samsung from the above release date.

We don't have a United Kingdom price yet, but the Galaxy Book 2 price is $999 in the US. That device ran Android, while the Book 2 is a Windows machine.
