On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Julia Louis-Dreyfus spoke about her recent fight with breast cancer and why she shared so much of her battle on social media.

After Julia had her final chemotherapy session in January, she shared a video her sons Henry, 26, and 21-year-old Charlie - who she has with husband Brad Hall - had recorded to support her, featuring them lip syncing to Michael Jackson's "Beat It" and the actress thought it was the ideal tribute. Kimmel asked, to which Louis-Dreyfus answered enthusiastically, "Yes!" "I embraced that and got a lot of positive feedback".

The 57-year-old actress admitted she would have usually dealt with her medical situation in private, but because work on "Veep" would have to be halted while she sought treatment, she went public with the news and made a decision to try and take a light-hearted approach to battling the disease. "I believed it before, but now I really know it". Production was halted as she underwent treatment that included chemotherapy and surgery.

For Louis-Dreyfus, the loving video was the ideal gift.

Fans were stunned when the "Seinfeld" vet and "Veep" star, 57, revealed she had cancer.

"All the elements [are coming] together, it's really kind lightning in a bottle", she said of the hotly anticipated seventh and final season.

Julia recently admitted she is "grateful" to be alive after her cancer battle. "The idea of somebody not being able to get breast reconstruction if they want - it and plenty of women choose not to do it but if they want it - is unconscionable".
