The first 2 seasons of "Marvel's Luke Cage" are available to stream on Netflix now.

Netflix is parting ways with another superhero: The streaming service has cancelled Marvel's Luke Cage after two seasons - and just a week after it axed Marvel's Iron Fist - our sister site Deadline reports. Especially in a world where Netflix proudly championed its stable of Marvel series as something that would continue to thrive in a post-Disney streaming service future.

Time will tell what's in store for the remaining Marvel shows in Netflix's roster - Daredevil, which just debuted its third season; The Punisher; and Jessica Jones, which just lost its showrunner, Melissa Rosenberg, in August after she signed a new deal with Warner Bros. TV.

"Unfortunately, "Marvel's Luke Cage" will not return for a third season".

This is frankly a huge disappointment to fans of the Defenders series. We were looking forward to seeing what kind of corrupting influence that kind of power might have had on Harlem's hero.

Per THR, the cancelation was due to "creative differences and the inability to agree to terms for a third season." Luke Cage's showrunner was OG Hip-Hop scribe Cheo Hodari Coker. But Finn Jones, star of the also-cancelled Iron Fist, showed his solidarity by posting an image on Instagram of the Iron Fist meeting the fist of Luke Cage, punctuated by two fist emojis (one black, one white) on either side of a heart.
