Television and film actress Selma Blair announced that she has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The 46-year-old was inspired to share her health update by the kindness of costumer Allisa Swanson on the Netflix show they're now working on, Another Life. She had been experiencing MS symptoms for "at least 15 years", and had tests and MRIs done.

As reported by People, the Cruel Intentions and Hellboy actress made a decision to open up about her diagnosis while working on the new Netflix series Another Life, which is now filming.

Blair discussed the support she had received from her producers, writing: "By the grace of the lord, and will power and the understanding producers at Netflix, I have a job". And I laugh and I don't know exactly what I will do precisely but I will do my best. You can't get help unless you ask.

The actress also thanked her doctor for helping her understand that she's dealt with the symptoms for years, and is now dealing with the facts of her diagnosis. You see, I want to sleep.

"I am disabled", she said.

Despite the news, the actress said she was relieved to finally receive the diagnosis.

"I am in the thick of it but I hope to give some hope to others", she wrote on Instagram. "I drop things. My memory is foggy", she wrote Saturday on Instagram, accompanied by a mirror shot of her wearing oversized glasses and a velvet jacket at a wardrobe fitting for her role on Netflix's upcoming sci-fi drama Another Life. "But I am a forthcoming person and I want my life to be full somehow". But if you see me, dropping crap all over the street, feel free to help me pick it up. "Having the right support around you is crucial because when your employer takes time to understand MS, you can enjoy a full working life for as long as you want or are able to". "I have MS and I am OK". And share.my instagram family. you know who you are. While there's no cure, there are a range of treatments available for the relapsing form of MS, and new developments are happening in research all the time.

"What's most encouraging about Selma's post is the attitude of her colleagues".

Blair has been plenty busy, most recently shooting the movie After opposite Jennifer Beals and Peter Gallagher and also starring in Maria Gabriela Cardenas' The Great Illusion. I can so relate to how #SelmaBlair feels. Your truth and honesty will help so many.
