Owens went on to play with the Cowboys from 2006-08.

Being a team which has not even got close to achieving expectations this season, along with a team that no longer has a first round draft pick next year, the Cowboys have dug themselves a hole that night be to much to climb out of.

Jones was peppered with questions about Garrett's job security after the loss to the Titans, at one point flatly saying he wouldn't fire him during the season.

When asked whether there could be a change with offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, Jones said, "I'm not anticipating any more coaching changes".

The Cowboys hoped those moves would energize them coming into the Tennessee game, but the Cowboys failed to score a point in the second half. "I thought we would be sitting here with a positive result".

"I don't know how to articulate my patience or lack thereof, and I'm not trying to be smart, " Jones said. This is a surprise to me and is a setback. "That's not the life we've chosen". Anything less than a 6-2 finish would leave Garrett with three winning seasons, and two playoff appearances, in eight full seasons. He was named the NFL's Coach of the Year in 2016 after guiding Dallas to a 13-3 season. The Cowboys were also just 1-of-4 in the red zone in the loss.

"Tonight's game did not - did not, I emphasize - impact my future look at Dak Prescott", Jones said after the game.

"We've got to play better". We've got to play better. We're not in anything if we don't play better. We did not play good for whatever reason after that first spurt of energy in the early part of the game. "We just didn't play very well".
