Sergio Ramos has an uncanny habit of injuring his opponents "accidentally".

The controversial Blancos captain left Viktoria Plzen defender Milan Havel bloodied in a Champions League group stage encounter on Wednesday.

Ramos went unpunished after the incident and later apologised to Havel, insisting he did not set out to hurt him, even if the nature of the challenge was inappropriate.

"It's a scandalous challenge". He throws his arm and he knows exactly what he's doing in this situation. He has to be banned and banned for a long time.

Ramos likely anticipated some post-match punishment so hastened to express remorse in the moments after the game as he took to Twitter to admit that he shouldn't have done what he did before wishing Havel a speedy recovery.

Cutting across the player's path, Ramos - in a manner not entirely different to his interaction with Liverpool's Loris Karius in last year's Champions League final - ever slow slightly lifts his elbow into the opposing player's head.
