When Aamir was told about the same, his reaction was that of eyeballs popping out, post which he said, "I personally believe that ticket price should be cheaper and cheaper so that a greater number of people can go and watch the film".

Yash Raj Films is now busy in the promotional activities of the film. Starring Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh in lead roles, the adventure drama is expected to write new records for a Bollywood film.

"Thugs of Hindostan" is based on Philip Meadows Taylor's 1839 novel "Confessions of a Thug" and is about a gang who posed a serious challenge to the British Empire in India (then known as Hindustan or Hindostan) during the early 19th century. Johar said, "The factors that will work in favour of Thugs of Hindostan are, one, it is a big holiday release, secondly, it is releasing on the biggest window available for a Bollywood film as there are no other releases scheduled around it and third, the film boasts of big names like Aamir, Amitabh, Katrina and Yash Raj Films".

With 5,000 screens in India (in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi) and 2,000 overseas, Thugs of Hindostan is going to have a worldwide screen count of 7,000.

This year's big release for India's Diwali festival, the seafaring song-and-dance fest with superstars Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan cost US$42 million (RM175 million), making it the most expensive movie to date in the Hindi-language industry. According to trade analyst Girish Johar, the Vijay Krishna Acharya directorial has the "fastest 50 on cards".

The film has been produced on an estimated budget of Rs 300 crore.
