The $255 Sport runs Wear OS and follows the Montblanc Summit 2, the only other smartwatch housing the latest chipset, which Fossil indicates will help to extend the Sport's battery life past 24 hours.

"Over the last three years, Fossil and Qualcomm have collaborated closely to launch a series of products and have led the Wear OS by Google smartwatch segment", Pankaj said in a statement. The newly redesigned Google Fit app will be a great companion to the Fossil Sport along with the snappy Snapdragon 3100.

It's hard to take Google's Wear OS software platform seriously in the Apple-dominated smartwatch market when so many recent releases have come powered by an nearly three year-old processor. Announced this September, the Wear 3100's biggest improvement over 2016's Wear 2100 is vastly improved battery life. There's also a new battery saving mode, bringing an additional two days of telling the time in an "ambient mode".

The video below, showing the Fossil Sport in action on people's wrists, doesn't show off anything surprising. The Fossil Sport Smartwatch comes in 41mm and 43mm case sizes and supports interchangeable straps.

The Fossil Watch becomes officially available on Fossils website starting today, November 8 and will b e available in select Fossil retail stores around the globe on November 12. But the Fossil Sport at least sounds like it's not outrageously priced.
