Mickey Callaway's return to the Mets bench won't include a few of his lieutenants from last season.

The New York Mets are shuffling around a number of coaches to new roles just as the baseball season properly winds down and the offseason begins.

New Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen said yesterday that the world's most famous minor leaguer, Tim Tebow, has been hitting multiple times per week.

Brodie Van Wagenen's first official act as the New York Mets' new General Manager was to make some changes to the coaching staff.

DeGrom is coming off a season where he set the Major League Baseball record for the most consecutive starts allowing three earned runs or fewer. The Mets bullpen ranked 14th in the NL - only the Marlins were worse - with a 4.96 ERA last season.

Former Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr., who had been first-base coach, will become a front office adviser to the 44-year-old Van Wagenen, who quit as co-head of CAA Baseball's agency group and was hired October 30 to replace Sandy Alderson as GM. (1st Base Coach) and Gary Disarcina (Bench Coach) is still to be decided. Jim Riggleman, like he did in 2012, will interview for the job, according to an industry source. Van Wagenen, Tebow's former agent, said the outfielder has fully healed from his injury. If calling him up to the bigs for a fun experience does not harm anyone else, who are we to say it shouldn't be done?

Van Wagenen indicated he will continue to lean on assistant GM John Ricco and special assistant J.P. Ricciardi, but stopped short of saying both have made a decision to remain with the organization.

"I haven't ruled out anything", Van Wagenen told reporters at the GM meetings on Tuesday. He knows what he's doing up in that front office. "But they're certainly important to me and that's why they're out here this week".
