Netflix has really been expanding its animated content recently, including the announcement of six new animated series being added to its already robust lineup. Netflix already has a lot of anime scheduled for future releases and with the addition of 5 further Originals, it's a great time to have a Netflix subscription.

Protagonist Alexandra Trese goes head to head with a criminal underworld comprised of supernatural beings in this story set in Manila, ‎ Netflix said in a statement. Craig Kyle and Greg Johnson are the showrunners for Legacy Entertainment.

Since Netflix has only started developing the newest additions to its line-up, it hasn't announced launch dates for majority yet.

The new Pacific Rim series follows "two siblings - an idealistic teenage boy and his naïve younger sister - who are forced to pilot an abandoned Jaeger across a hostile landscape in a desperate attempt to find their missing parents".

That leaves three other series: Cagaster of an Insect Sage, Yasuke, and Trese.

That's not the only familiar project getting a new anime project from Netflix - the streaming service is forging ahead with an animated feature film in the universe of Altered Carbon, the body-hopping cyberpunk show that began in live-action form earlier in 2018.

Fans of Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop will be happy to hear that writer Dai Sato is the co-writer of the series alongside fellow writer Tsukasa Kondo.

Gonzo, the studio behind Hellsing and Afro Samurai, is developing a series called Cagaster, based on a post-apocalyptic manga where people turn into insects. With LeSean Thomas ("The Boondocks", "Cannon Busters") set as creator, director and producer, the storyline features a retired ronin who must take up his sword when he is charged with the task of transporting a mysterious child who dark forces want to eliminate. Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta, Sorry to Bother You) is voicing Yasuke.

What do you think of Netflix's Altered Carbon anime? Jay Oliva (Wonder Woman, The Legend of Korra) will serve as executive producer, with production being handled by Shanty Harmayn and Tanya Yuson at BASE Entertainment, a Jakarta and Singapore-based studio.

An anime based on Trese, a comic book series by Filipino storyteller Budjette Tan, will be streaming on Netflix soon.
