Ball took note and offered a brief response via social media. Ball said Friday he is still hoping to join a top collegiate program when he finishes high school.

LaVar Ball, LaMelo's father, denies his son was paid playing overseas and remains confident he will one day be eligible to play in college if he chooses to. The school is located less than 50 miles from Cleveland.

But Jackson isn't alone, as a billboard welcoming Ball to OH has put up in his honor.

The billboard is a takeoff of former Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James' Nike ad that was prominently featured near Quicken Loans Arena.

"Last night, our company Overtime put up a billboard welcoming LaMelo Ball to Ohio".

His youngest son LaMelo is in OH where he'll start at the SPIRE Institute, and of course the comparisons to a certain other high school star from OH started getting flung around. So we thought it would be pretty epic to celebrate his return to high school with a billboard, playing on another famous Cleveland billboard.

"As long as he maintains his amateur status, plays a full high school season and is in good standing with his team all season long, he'll be considered just like any other HS candidate".

"The billboard is right on I90, by West 3rd Street, just minutes from Quicken Loans Arena".
