They've won just two matches, one for each bank of four - and both of those were away, which is a surprise for a team with arguably the best home support in the league. It's been a bit of a unusual season for Spurs, too.

Pochettino feels Kane's fixation with scoring goals has sometimes inhibited him, but he believes the 25-year-old is improving in that area.

"He is a killer, an assassin, a killer", Pochettino told reporters. He then praised Kane while saying "I am not surprised because he is so determined and in training you need to stop him training because he always wants to train, to improve and it is awesome".

Tottenham will most likely play Winks and Harry Kane from the off, while Andros Townsend should start for the hosts after his goal in the 3-1 loss at Chelsea last Sunday. Now after six years here I understand a little bit. "He always in practice wants to kill the keeper, everything". It's similar in Spain.

"You score you are the best".

The Denmark global can score goals from the midfield area, while he's the chief creator for his teammates with his footballing brain and range of passing.

"That's why when he doesn't score, he's so obsessed with scoring that sometimes it's against him, because sometimes you need more freedom, not to be obsessed". If Palace are going to avoid relegation for again, they need to start scoring more goals. If you didn't score no. you are criticised.

"I am not surprised because he is so determined and in training you need to stop him training because he always wants to train, to improve and it is fantastic".

"The most important thing is people need to know I am so focused on Tottenham, I am so responsible in my job and our fans need to know that and of course [chairman] Daniel Levy needs to know I am so focused on Tottenham, working so hard trying to help the club to achieve all that we want".
