Photos of Jeep's hotly anticipated new pickup have been leaked, giving us our first real look at the truck we now know will be called "Gladiator".

The Jeep Gladiator Forum has procured and published photos of the upcoming ute, which will go on sale in the United State next year. The oil burner comes with a sole transmission option in the form of an eight-speed unit.

Technical details are thin on the ground at this stage, but the Gladiator is believed to be powered by a 3.6-litre petrol V6 offered with either an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual gearbox.

The four-door Crew Cab Gladiator seen here has a cargo tray measuring 1.5 metres long, available with tie-down points and a covered external power source. On the practicality side of things, the pick-up offers a towing capacity of 3,470 kg, and payload capacity of 726 kg.

The company claims "unmatched crawl ratios" with the Gladiator, along with the ability to handle water fording up to 30 inches.

As with other Wrangler derivatives, the new Gladiator can be had with either a folding soft-top or a two different hardtop designs. There will also be myriad door, windscreen and roof configurations available. Rubicon models will also have a forward-facing camera for better rock-crawling visibility.

On the inside, the Gladiator can be fitted with either 7.0- or 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment touchscreen, both with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring.
