But Wilson, who attended the brief High Court hearing in Canberra on Friday, is proud she took her fight as far as she could.

Wilson's lawyers on Friday sought leave to appeal against the reduction in the High Court - Australia's highest judicial body - but the application was refused. Victoria's Court of Appeal said Wilson could not prove economic loss, or that she'd missed out on film contracts as a result of the articles.

A spokesman for Bauer Media said the company was pleased that the matter had come to an end.

The star of three "Pitch Perfect" movies and "Bridesmaids" won A$4.6 million ($3.5 million) in damages from the German publisher previous year after a court found a series of articles accusing her of lying about her age, name and childhood events had cost her roles.

Wilson initially sought $7 million in compensation over the eight articles, which she earlier described in court as a "malicious, deliberate take-down" of her.

Wilson's lawyers had argued she missed out on film roles between mid-2015 and the end of 2016 due to the "grapevine effect" the articles had within the film industry.

After a brief adjournment, the High Court chose to refuse the special leave application, with costs.

"Bauer owns more magazine brands than any other publisher locally".

"Bauer Media is invested in its Australian business now more than ever", the statement reads.

"It's been a long journey in the Australian courts these past few years", she said.

She added: 'The damages that I did receive are still so significant, so close to the Australian record, and I'm so proud of myself for seeing it through.

Hollywood actress Rebel Wilson's bid for her case to be heard in the High Court of Australia has not been granted.

"Today was just about a small point of special damages and to me it was never about the money, it was about standing up to a bully".

'I saw it out to the bitter end, ' she said.

Wilson is a native Australian best known for her Hollywood roles in the "Pitch Perfect" films and "Bridesmaids".
