Twitter erupted this weekend with mockery of the president after he claimed, during a visit to a scorched California town, that the leader of Finland had told him the Northern European country prevented wildfires in part by raking their forests. 80 per cent of the country is classified as forest land.

Trump had earlier told workers to get a move on and learn from their mistakes.

"We go through this every year; we can't go through this", Trump said Saturday as he toured the state's massive wildfire zones. In his original response to the news that the Camp Fire had remained uncontrolled in Paradise, California, the president blamed the fire on poor forest management.

Trump on Saturday called for the state of California, where the largest fight in the history of forest fires.

He said he remembered telling the president that "we take care of our forests", but has no recollection of the subject of raking being brought up.

"I think people have to see this really to understand it. ..."

He said: "We have to do management, maintenance and we'll be working also with environmental groups".

Since that comment, Finland's President said he doesn't even recall having that conversation, while others have pointed out the differences between the California and Finland, the latter of which has a colder climate, and trees which are less prone to catching fire.

Trump's comment generated amusement on social media in Finland, which manages its vast forests with scientific seriousness. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!'

Authorities attribute the death toll partly to the speed with which flames raced through the town with little advance warning, driven by howling winds and fueled by drought-desiccated scrub and trees.

Jerry Brown, the outgoing governor, told CBS's Face the Nation they had set their differences aside.

'And they don't have any problem.

In Southern California's Woolsey Fire at least three people have died.

This time, it's a raking controversy - yes, as in, raking leaves to stop the California wildfires - that is drawing him a TON of unwanted attention from Americans... as well as the Scandinavian nation of Finland!
