Jon Rahm says a putting tip last August from tournament host Tiger Woods helped the Spaniard to storm his way to a four-shot success at the Hero World Challenge on Sunday.

Rahm started the final round tied with Tony Finau and Henrik Stenson but turned it into a one-horse race with a seven-birdie seven-under-par 65 at Albany on the island of New Providence. Finau's challenge slowed down after the first seven holes and then completely broke down after a double bogey on 14th on the back nine.

Anyway, more unedifying about the Hero World Challenge was that the victor, Spaniard Jon Rahm, picked up the same World Ranking points - 48 - as the victor of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open and Dubai Desert

Swede Stenson faded with a 71 to finish six shots back in fourth place in the elite 18-man field. Clearly, Rahm was pleased with his progress in the first two years of his career.

The 2018 season had been "incredible", Tiger Woods said on Sunday after completing his final round of the year. "I just can't putt on Bermuda as I had grown up in Spain on poa annua", said Rahm. "A couple of months later to win his event - his Foundation's event along with Hero, this is really special". "He kind of laughed and told me it's all about feel". However, he went unpunished due to the rule that came into effect in April past year whereby a breach that can't be seen with the naked eye can't later lead to punishment by the use of video evidence. "In presenting me the trophy he said, 'Hey, that's a pretty good performance from someone who can't putt on Bermuda greens'".

"The entire year has been wonderful and I've just been so blessed to have the opportunity", said the 14-time Major champion, who turns 43 on Dec 30.

"To come from where I came from a year ago at this point to have the ability to actually play and compete again in the game and do it consistently is quite awesome".

Though his playing is done for the year, Woods can not relax just yet.
