If you're not in tune with the golden content that Celebrity Deathmatch brought us during its first run on MTV, you may be lucky enough to be witnessing its rebirth.

"Celebrity Deathmatch" originally aired from 1998-2001 on MTV.

Ice Cube's Cube Vision already works with Viacom producing Hip Hop Squares for VH1.

Studios is reviving another classic MTV series, "Celebrity Deathmatch". MTV Studios has stated that, with the new project, they plan to "reimagine [Celebrity Deathmatch] ... for a new generation". "'Deathmatch' was the meme before memes, remains a hot topic on social media and will be a smart, amusing way to tackle the over-the-top rhetoric of today's pop culture where it belongs - in the wrestling ring". Also executive producing is Jeff Kwatinetz and Ben Hurwitz of Cube Vision. Will you be tuning in? Series creator Eric Fogel will executive produce as well, with additional showrunners and talent to be revealed in the not-so-distant future. The original "Celebrity Deathmatch" is highly regarded as an incubator for world-class comedic talent, including New York Times-bestselling author A.J. Jacobs (1999-2002) and writers and producers who went on to contribute to comedy classics from "The Simpsons" to "Key and Peele" to "Family Guy" and more. The new "Celebrity Deathmatch" will be available as a weekly series for an SVOD or other network partner in 2019. It was canceled again in 2007 after two seasons. Fogel is repped by Gotham Group.
