The PGA, based for four decades in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., initially plans to employ at least 100 people at its new headquarters.

The headquarters will anchor a 600-acre, mixed-use development with an initial public-private investment worth more than half a billion dollars, and will have technology features that could move the sport forward.

The 54-hole PGA Minority Collegiate Championship is a stroke-play event contested across six divisions: NCAA Men's Division I, Men's Division II, Men's NAIA, an overall Women's Division (team), Men's Individual and Women's Individual. Omni Stillwater Woods will spend $455 million to buy the land and build the hotel, conference center, retail space, parking and the golf courses. It will sit just south of USA 380 at Rockhill Parkway and Legacy Drive, within a 2,500 development being masterplanned by Hunt Realty Investments. The 1969 U.S. Open in Houston was the last major to be played in Texas.

It's official: the PGA of America is moving to Frisco, Texas, and bringing some big time tournaments with it. And, frankly, the city of Frisco is filled with dreamers. We felt this was an absolute bullseye for us.

"We're also honored Omni is, once again, committing such a huge investment in our community, recognizing the potential to grow entertainment, tourism and economic development in one of the fastest-growing cities in America", Mayor Cheney added.

The decision Tuesday followed approval of an incentives package by the Frisco City Council and other government entities. "It's really unprecedented for us". He is a two time Masters champ, and ten-time member of the European Ryder Cup team.

The PGA's Northern Texas Section will also move to Frisco, where state-of-the-art connectivity will provide the organization with opportunities to pilot new growth-of-the-game programming for all 41 sections of the PGA of America.

It's those courses that will host two PGA Championships - in 2027 and 2034 - and possibly even a future Ryder Cup. "We certainly hope so".
