Considering how beloved the originals were (plus a bit of a pop culture consciousness boost from the MCU), Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is sure to be on many a player's radar come 2019.

The first major announcement at The Game Awards was a shocking one. The cel-shaded graphics are back as well, and it looks swish as hell.

Although no exact date has been set yet, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order launches on what should be an auspicious year for Marvel.

Gaming giant Nintendo and entertainment behemoth Marvel on Thursday announced a partnership to unveil an exclusive title for the Nintendo Switch portable gaming console. Also worth noting is that the developer behind the project is that of Team Ninja.

All other details around Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order will be revealed sometime in the future. Get closer to the action by shifting the view to an over-the-shoulder "Heroic Camera" perspective-a series first that offers a more immersive way to play single-player or multiplayer on up to four systems.

The Black Order, the game will make its debut next year, a decade after the last entry in the franchise. With another pair of Joy-Con (sold separately), four players can team up on one system.

In case you're not familiar, the Ultimate Alliance games were isometric action-RPGs that pulled together heroes and villains across the Marvel multiverse to face down world-ending threats like Dr. Doom and Galactus.
