The Minnesota Twins announced the signing of infielder, and agreed to terms with second baseman Jonathan Schoop on Thursday. He had been the team's starting second baseman the past five years, averaging 30 homers and 82 RBIs in that span.

Though the Brewers came within one win of reaching the World Series, Schoop went 0 for 8 in the postseason after batting just.202 with four home runs and 21 RBIs in 46 games for Milwaukee after the trade. "We made a trade for a player we thought was going to be here for basically a year and a half, and I was wrong". The deal for Torreyes, a career.281/.310/.375 hitter in 614 major-league plate appearances, is a split contract that could pay him $800,000 if he earns a spot on the big-league roster.

Schoop, 27, agreed to a one-year deal worth $7.5 million.

Torreyes, 26, played 41 games with the New York Yankees last season, hitting.280 with seven extra-base hits and nine runs in 41 games at first, third and shortstop. He became a free agent when the Brewers decided not to tender him a contract.
