With the club keen to recruit a defender and a winger to their ranks, Emery has confirmed there is no money available to land permanent targets.

Arsenal are fifth in the Premier League and have an upcoming FA Cup fourth-round tie at home to Manchester United. Together, the pair won the Europa League.

Five players were signed last summer - Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi - but all came in for a total outlay of less than £75million.

The Arsenal boss called him "a very good player", but told reporters he "cannot say any more".

Arsenal, however, are looking for a loan deal for the player and Emery has revealed that the Gunners can not afford to pay for any transfer fees and are looking for a loan deal.

He added: "The club is working, telling me each moment different situations can happen". And if they get one, they'll find themselves under the eye of Arsenal's newly-appointed "loans manager".

Suarez worked under the Spaniard when he went on loan to Sevilla in the 2014/15 season.

Emery has already acknowledged that the club are seeking potential loan deals for the window with the obligation to buy and such kind of approach could hamper their prospects of signing Carrasco. Also, we are giving chances to the young players and finding with them the regularity to be consistent when we need them to be.

"I don't know his [Suarez's] situation".

The 25-year-old is expected to be involved in Barcelona's Copa del Rey match against Levante on Thursday after the Blaugrana named an 18-man squad for the match at Estadi Ciutat de Valencia before completing the formalities of his move to north London, with the two clubs in advanced discussions over the loan move.
