The helicopter Desi was working on belonged to Dr. Alfred Bonati, an orthopedic surgeon at the Bonati Spine Institute in Husdon, Florida.

A person was decapitated by a helicopter in an accident at a Florida airport on Thursday afternoon, reports said.

Deputies responded about 3:35 p.m.to reports of a death at the Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport.

One of the men, 62-year-old Salvatore Disi, was immediately killed in the horrific incident in Florida after the vehicle's rotor blades decapitated his head, the WFLA broadcaster reported.

Officials say two men were using a power cart to jumpstart a helicopter when, for an unknown reason, the helicopter suddenly jerked up and then came down.

It is being treated as a tragic accident, and foul play is not suspected.

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office told the Miami Herald detectives would not comment on the person's cause of death because next of kin has yet to be notified.

Following a request from the airport, the Medical Examiner's Office in Leesburg collected the body from the scene.

In a Facebook post Thursday night, Nienhuis said Disi was a family friend.

The incident occurred away from the facility's runways and did not impact air traffic, Nienhuis said according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Other agencies including the Federal Aviation Administration are also being informed, the sheriff said.
