Lana Del Rey has solidified herself as a prominent songwriter in the alternative-pop landscape, with her wistful vocals evoking the abstract concept of "simpler times".

Lana Del Rey's fans have cause to rejoice with the release of a new track: "hope is a unsafe thing for a woman like me to have - but i have it".

The track is out now on all major platforms, and follows last year's "Venice Bitch" and lead single "Mariners Apartment Complex".

Without a set release date for album Norman Fucking Rockwell it has also been reported that Lana is very eager to release a book of poetry first.

The lyrics reference the late poet Sylvia Plath.

Check out "hope is a risky thing for a woman like me to have - but i have that" below. It's perfectly stylized teenage angst forcing every listener to feel something of the pubescent-glory of a 15-year-old girl weeping into her pink bed spread, mourning everything and nothing.

The hauntingly attractive single sees Lana bare her soul to us, talking of her own personal demons and the way she copes with them: 'A modern day woman with a weak constitution / 'Cause I've got Monsters still under my bed that I could never fight off.' The chorus sees her refer to American poet Sylvia Plath, someone who may be the inspiration behind her latest new project: a poem book.

"Hope is a unsafe thing for a woman like me to have - but I have it" clads you in a silk, victorian-style nightgown, places you in a candle lit room with a baby grand piano.but then it covers the baby grand in lines of coke, hangs Taylor Lautner posters and cosmo clippings on the walls, and adds a strobe light.
