Police attended Derby's training ground on Thursday after a man was seen at the perimeter fence of the Moor Farm complex, as Frank Lampard's squad prepared to play Leeds on Friday night, live on Sky Sports.

The statement added: "Officers conducted routine checks which were all above board".

Despite some reports, no damage to the fence was found, and the man was stopped outside the grounds.

Derby are now in sixth position, while Leeds are league leaders just eight points ahead.

Early reports suggested that police had arrived on the scene to apprehend the man who was spying on the team's training session.

The Rams have now confirmed the matter themselves and since revealed that they believe it was in fact a member of Leeds United's staff.

Derby County have now issued their own statement in which they say the man spotted outside their training ground is an employee of Leeds United.

The club is now in discussion with Leeds United club officials in relation to this incident.
