Miami among possible transfer destinations for Tate Martell

Tate Martell's short stint at Ohio State may be coming to an end, as the redshirt freshman quarterback has entered the transfer portal following the transfer of Justin Fields to the Buckeyes.

The University of Miami and West Virginia are considered to be landing spots for Martell should he decide to transfer from the Buckeyes, Lettermen Row reported.

Martell, a former four-star prospect from Las Vegas, played limited snaps in 2018 as Dwayne Haskins' backup. He made headlines when Fields was exploring his transfer options from UGA, which included Ohio State as a rumored destination, with a cryptic tweet.

After Ohio State's 28-23 victory over Washington in the Rose Bowl Game Presented by Northwestern Mutual, Martell said the reason he hadn't transferred in the past was because of his love for his teammates.

Martell isn't the only quarterback linked with a move to UM.

And since it's hard to remember a kid who put his name in the portal and didn't transfer, the odds are good that Martell won't be playing football in Columbus in the not-too-distant-future. Hurts lost his starting quarterback job this season to Tua Tagovailoa.
