The Milwaukee County Transit System says the boy was wearing only a diaper and a onesie when bus driver Irena Ivic spotted him just before Christmas on December 22 a little before 8am.

A Milwaukee bus driver is being hailed for rescuing a baby girl found wandering alone one the streets of Milwaukee's south side - and the entire episode was captured on camera.

Ivic quickly ran across the busy street, stopping traffic in the process, to grab the cold and crying child.

A Wisconsin bus driver is being recognized for her heroic actions.

"Oh my God, I was so upset", she told KTLA sister station WITI in Milwaukee.

"Oh, I am too", the passenger responded. It's unclear how long he had been alone outside.

While Ivic waited for authorities to respond to the missing child, he fell asleep in her arms. The video shows her lightly kiss him on his head, letting him know everything was OK.

Firefighters and police soon arrived on the scene.

According to authorities, the toddler was discovered to be less than a year old and it's believed the mother, who may have been suffering from mental health issues, may have left the boy outside.

ABC7 reported the boy was later reunited with his father. Thanks to her quick thinking and warm heart, he was kept out of harm's way.
