NFL Coaching Tracker: Bengals Targeting Rams QB Coach Zac Taylor

Ten days after ending their 16-year relationship coach Marvin Lewis, the Cincinnati Bengals may have tapped a successor: Zac Taylor, quarterbacks coach for the No. 5-ranked Los Angeles Rams. The Cardinals hired Kingsbury, and now it looks like the Bengals are primed to hire a direct understudy of the Rams head coach.

Taylor also coached with the Miami Dolphins for four years from 2012-2015, serving as the team's quarterbacks coach and interim offensive coordinator. In 2017, Taylor was a wide receivers coach and directed a unit that saw the development of Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp into reliable receivers. He clearly knows what he's doing with quarterbacks because Jared Goff has played incredibly well under his tutelage. Over his final two seasons with the Cornhuskers he threw 45 touchdowns to 20 interceptions while completing 57.2 percent of his passes. Taylor cannot be hired until after Los Angeles' season is over. Because the Rams are still in playoffs, they can't negotiate a contract.

Cincinnati had also been rumored to be looking at former Browns head coach Hue Jackson and former Broncos head coach Vance Joseph for its head coaching vacancy.
