White House prepares to REPLACE ailing Ruth Bader Ginsburg

'I wouldn't say she's exactly on my side, but I wish her well, I hope she gets better, and I hope she serves on the Supreme Court for many years'. The justices met behind closed doors earlier on Friday to discuss pending petitions and Ginsburg participated by proxy.

After the knock-down, drag-out confirmation battle for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh almost tore the nation asunder, the White House and Senate are preparing for another, potentially even more divisive, showdown. She has survived two other bouts of cancer. "She's barely two weeks out", Dr. Raja Flores, chief of the division of thoracic surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in NY, told CNBC. The nodules themselves were discovered incidentally following tests after a fall she sustained in November.

She returned to the hospital in December to have these removed.

After the 85-year-old Supreme Court Justice misses oral argument while recovering from cancer surgery, speculation grows that the Trump administration is preparing for a retirement and new confirmation battle.

"It's an uncomfortable operation", Miller said.

Speaking with CNBC, top doctors who have performed pulmonary lobectomies, the procedure Ginsburg underwent, said that they expect the Supreme Court justice would be back on the bench in less than six weeks, in time for the Court's February sitting.

The court has not yet offered a timetable on Ginsburg's return. If Ginsburg, who was appointed to the Supreme Court by former President Bill Clinton, were to vacate her seat, Trump would have the opportunity to give the Court its largest conservative majority in decades. Her dissents in recent years have continued to energize Democrats at a time when Republicans control the executive branch of government and the Supreme Court moves rightward.

"The White House is urging outside allies to be prepared for another bruising confirmation battle should Ginsberg's health take a sudden turn for the worse, according to four sources with knowledge of the overtures", Politico reports.

The source described the conversations as very preliminary so the White House is not "unprepared" for a grueling hearing.
