Much like Mr. Randy Watson and his iconic band, Sexual Chocolate, plenty of people have been wondering about Coming to America's main character, Prince Akeem, after he married Lisa and headed home to Zamunda.

The original Coming to America starred Murphy as Akeem, an African prince who travels to America to find a wife who will love him for him, rather than his immeasurable wealth and royal status. Brewer is best known for directing Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan, and the Footloose remake, though he's also helmed episodes of Empire and The Shield.

Brewer just directed Murphy in Dolemite Is My Name, and the star was eager to work with him again.

Black-Ish's Kenya Barris is now re-writing a script by the original writers of Coming To America, Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield. Murphy is producing the film alongside Kevin Misher while Barris will serve as executive producer.

"After many years of anticipation, I'm thrilled that Coming to America 2 is officially moving forward. We've assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an wonderful job on Dolemite, and I'm looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen", said Eddie Murphy in a statement.

Anyway, the rumours about a sequel to the beloved comedy have circulated for years but the ball is finally rolling on Coming to America 2.

The statement seems to suggest the cast of the original will be back, which includes Arsenio Hall, Shari Headley, John Amos, and James Earl Jones.

Coming To America 2 will follow the story of Prince Akeem's return to America after discovering that he has a long lost son. "From Hustle and Flow to his work with Eddie on Dolemite Is My Name, he never fails to blow me away".

There is no start date, but the hope is that production begins in 2019. We're nervous and skeptical about this one, but mostly we're just hyped.
