Steve Buscemi's wife Jo Andres has sadly passed away in NY aged 65.

The couple married in 1987 and share one son together, Lucian, who was born in 1990.

According to reports out in TMZ, Andres died either last Monday or over this past weekend - as it appears the funeral happened at their Brooklyn home on Tuesday, with her burial on Wednesday.

A source close to the family confirmed her death to Fox News.

Buscemi's "Big Lebowski" co-star, John Turturro, and his wife, "Boardwalk Empire" star Aida Turturro, were seen paying visits to the home. The work aired on PBS and screened at numerous film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, and Sundance Film Festival.

Andres and Buscemi attended their final event together seven months ago in New York City.

A celebrated filmmaker and artist in her own right, Andres rose to fame within the 1980s art world through her expressive performance art films, and made her directorial debut with 1996's Black Kites.

"She paints, she makes films, she has done performance", he told The Independent in 2009. In the wake of 9/11 Buscemi worked as a volunteer firefighter.

Andres' website describes the film, based on 1992 journals of Bosnian visual artist Alma Hajric, who was forced into a shelter during the Sarajevo siege, as "non-linear, dreamlike and spectral".

The family has not yet released a statement on Andres passing, but they are not the only family of artists reeling from the loss of a matriarch.
