Two guns have been seized by detectives as part of their investigation.

The brothers of England footballers Marcus Rashford and Trent Alexander-Arnold were attacked during an armed robbery at a restaurant.

Three people suffered minor injuries during the incident, although it is not clear if Mr Rashford or Mr Alexander-Arnold were among them.

Their brothers, Manchester United striker Marcus and Liverpool defender Trent, were reportedly horrified that their siblings were targeted by the gun-wielding robbers.

Their friend, who has not been named, was also attacked and robbed by the gang, who were carrying a suspected shotgun, a machete and a baseball bat.

The raiders used Dane's white Range Rover and Tyler's white BMW3 series as getaway cars to flee the scene, leaving the pair bloodied and bruised.

The trio were on their way to the south coast to see Liverpool's evening match with Brighton when they made a decision to stop at the Little Rock restaurant in Princess Road, Manchester.

Officers are investigating the possibility that the gang may have followed the luxury cars through Moss Side and pounced when the three unsuspecting victims stopped at the restaurant.

Their brothers were eating breakfast at a Caribbean restaurant when the incident happened, with the assailants robbing Dane of his watch and taking Tyler's wallet and the keys to his Range Rover.

Police said they later found the stolen Range Rover on Bowland Drive in Fallowfield.

A source said: 'Thankfully they are all going to be OK. "It was a shocking incident", a source told the website.

The message added: 'Be grateful for every second of every day that you get to spend with the people you love.

The six arrested were all aged between 17-58.

"It is thanks to the swift action of our officers that we now have six men in custody but this investigation is still very much ongoing and officers will be in the area today continuing with inquiries".
