Manuel Pellegrini: 'Samir Nasri can make the difference for West Ham United'

A 2-1 win at Bournemouth in November was the only time Emery conceded the former Germany global was left out for tactical reasons.

Arsenal old boy Samir Nasri made his first Premier League start for West Ham against his former club and nearly produced an assist in the first half when he showed great composure to hold the ball up and lay the it off to Felipe Anderson on the edge of the box.

The suggestion had been that the German playmaker was still suffering with a knee injury and thus had not been risked for Saturday's game against Manuel Pellegrini's side.

Emery was asked about why he left Ozil out of the squad when he had little attacking options on the bench.

"The players who were here are the players who deserved to be in this match", added Emery after watching an Arsenal defeat that sees them remain fifth in the Premier League.

"At the age of 19, I don't think there are many players better than him in that holding midfield position". Sometimes he is helping us, at other moments not helping us because of injury or because maybe the match is not for him'. We could've won or lost.

Arnautovic has been linked with an exit in the January transfer window and West Ham recently rejected a big-money bid from an unnamed Chinese club; the forward though is keen to move to China.

"We will see what happens in the next few days", The Sun quote the Hammers boss as saying.

"I think he's doing the right thing by taking his time and thinking about his situation".

Mundo Deportivo also claims that Emery's style of play represents a very attractive prospect for Suarez, who has struggled to cement himself in Barcelona's starting line-up this season.

The 29-year old joined West Ham in the summer of 2017 and has gone on to make 53 appearances for the Hammers.

"He is improving in every game he plays, he is now more used to giving us a good build-up in front".
