While Murray will be participating in both the NFL Combine and NFL Draft despite already being selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 2018 MLB Draft, it remains to be seen as to where exactly the reigning Heisman Trophy victor will come off the board come late April.

Relating to the Patriots, they will always be interested in quarterbacks as long as Tom Brady is still on the roster since they need to find an eventual replacement.

His NFL draft status remains unclear, but he is projected by many to be drafted in the first round.

Oakland paid Murray a $4.66MM signing bonus in last summer's draft, and while they'll reportedly recoup the vast majority of that sum, they won't be given a compensatory pick in the 2019 draft to make up for Murray's decision to choose an National Football League career over MLB.

Murray is coming off a standout football season with the Oklahoma Sooners. Football has been my love and passion my entire life.

Murray, who attends the University of Oklahoma, announced his decision in a Twitter post just four days before he was scheduled to report to the A's spring training program.

Kyler Murray has made up his mind.

Murray added that he's already started an "extensive training program" to prepare for the upcoming National Football League scouting combine.

In October, first-year Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury suggested as Texas Tech's head coach that he would take Murray first overall in the upcoming draft.

Per ESPN's Jeff Passan, Murray will return $1.29 million of the $1.5 million signing bonus money the A's gave him.

Technically, the Athletics will be able to retain the rights to Murray, in the event that he ever has a change of heart or is forced to alter his career path. Quarterback Sam Darnold, the No. 3 overall pick in April, will make about $30 million on his rookie deal; Josh Allen, the No. 7 pick, will make over $21 million on his rookie contract, according to Forbes.
