Roger Stone Insists He Is No Kardashian In Counterattack Against Gag Order

His attorney pointed out that Stone's career is writing about politics and he is familiar to those following the United States politics, but argued that the consultant is "hardly ubiquitous in the larger landscape of popular consciousness".

"While Roger Stone may be familiar to those who closely follow American politics, he is hardly ubiquitous in the larger landscape of popular consciousness", Stone's lawyers wrote. The lobbyist pleaded not guilty and vowed to "tell the truth" throughout the process.

Stone's legal team, which includes Bruce Rogow, a noted First Amendment attorney who previously represented the rap group 2 Live Crew in an obscenity case, also urged Jackson not to curtail speech based on "conjecture or speculation" about its possible impact on jurors.

"CNN's ability to capture the arrest of Roger Stone was the result of determined reporting and interpreting clues revealed in the course of events".

The 66-year-old self-proclaimed "dirty trickster" has made several media appearances since charges were announced last month, and in a Reuters interview downplayed the charges as "process crimes" that did not involve intentional lies.

Stone, who remains free on $250,000 bond, has denied having any direct contact with WikiLeaks. He also attacked Jackson because she was appointed to the bench by President Barack Obama.

It is not uncommon for federal agents to raid a home with heavy force, even if the target is not suspected of committing a violent crime.

Stone accuses the prosecutors of "shopping for a preferred district judge".

Stone's attorneys seek more information about why the hacking case and Stone's were deemed to be related. Stone faces no charges in connection with the hack - though he was mentioned anonymously in their indictment as communicating with the Russians. Yet, Stone said he was still shocked when he opened the door.
