On Saturday, it officially came to an end.

The Oklahoma City Thunder has waived guard Alex Abrines, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti.

Abrines is averaging 5.3 points and 1.5 rebounds in 2018-19. "Honestly, we go day by day with him and continue to be supportive with him". But the two parties reached a mutual decision that it was best for Abrines not to try balancing his personal matter with playing professional basketball.

Abrines has appeared in only 2 games since December 23rd, citing personal reasons. The Thunder could also pursue players on a series of 10-day contracts up to the 80th game of the season (April 7 at Minnesota) or up to 10 days before the final regular-season game.

Abrines was the 32nd overall pick by the Thunder in the 2013 NBA Draft and was one of the top shooters on the roster as a career 36.8 percent 3-point shooter. He signed with the Thunder in 2016 after four seasons with FC Barcelona, where he was named the EuroLeague Rising Star.
