Rapper XXXTentacion was left out of the 2019 Grammy Awards memoriam segment Sunday night and it was reportedly because of his alleged history of domestic violence. X's absence though sparked the most outrage on social media, with many slamming the Academy for not including the "SAD!" rapper despite his tragic and untimely death.

The Florida native was not included amongst the likes of Mac Miller and Avicii because of a history of domestic violence, a source told Variety.

Recording Academy president Neil Portnow told Rolling Stone in December that they were still discussing whether to include the rapper, whose real name was Jahseh Onfroy.

"We don't have pre-obits prepared like in journalism but we do leave time every year for an in memoriam and we will be planning that now", Portnow told Rolling Stone at the time. "We track those that we lose in our industry in any given year and then we have a process by which we go through it".

"Because it's always hard choices", he added. "All of that is to say, I don't have any answers for you now, but obviously artists who were prominent and well-known by the public are people who are recognized and we'll just wind up having to see how it plays out". He was also facing witness harassment and tampering charges.
