After converting a three-point play to pull within two points of Illinois State, Missouri State forced a turnover with seven seconds left on an inbounds play. He rushed to turn, only to have the ball slip out of his hands and bounce towards half-court, resulting in a mad-dash scramble that tied up both teams.

A game ball sits near the court before the game between the USC Trojans and the Southern Methodist Mustangs during the first round of the 2017 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament at BOK Center on March 17, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The banked-in 3 gave Missouri State a 66-65 win and handed Illinois State its second buzzer-beating loss of the season.

The win improved Missouri State's record to 13-12.

The loss felt all too familiar to Illinois State, which lost to Valparaiso last month on half-court victor.

All 10 players on the floor went for the ball and Missouri State's Jarred Dixon ended up with it.

"You get struck by lightning once it feels weird", Illinois State coach Dan Muller told the Pantagraph.
